In America…
Related to yesterday’s post:
While we were under the spell of politics and politicians this past decade, the world kept spinning and the hours of our lives slipped away.
The relentless demand for attention not only consumed the airwaves and headlines but also ate up our personal time, energy and headspace—cutting deeply into what is required to do our own unforgettable work in the world. Excellence, interrupted. Our personal excellence, interrupted.
This is time and work we can never recover.
When you consider this from a collective perspective—the collective amount of time spent obsessing, worrying, watching, reading, raging, discussing, scrolling, clicking, following—the loss to our nation in terms of talent, productivity, progress and peace is staggering. America, interrupted. American excellence, interrupted.
