I have been using these Saturday posts to zero in on fitness. If you are not already listening to Dr. Peter Attia’s podcast The Drive, here is a recent episode on exercise I found informative and exciting.
In this episode, he also explains VO2 max…why it matters and how to improve it. Peter can get technical at times, but stay with him—he does a good job of bringing it back to the big picture and summarizing in layman’s terms.
I also highly recommend Peter’s book, Outlive. While I have questions and concerns about the concept of longevity, the main takeaway of the book is how to make the most of the years we do live (from a health and functionality standpoint) versus simply living longer.
And although Peter is a data driven writer, physician and health advocate, the most powerful part of the book is when he sets the data aside and goes down a raw and riveting personal path.
