In America…We greet and depart from one another with warmth and courtesy. I was at a gym this weekend sitting near the front desk as I waited for my husband to finish showering. I believe the gym has a front desk policy requiring their staff to say hello and goodbye to members as they come and go. The staff person took it seriously and offered a genuine and friendly salutation. About 70% of the members completely ignored the hello and goodbye, not even looking up. What have we come to? As a country, we celebrate and elevate rude, crude and mean. We cheer them on and vote them in and this becomes the norm.
